Getting any wish you want fulfilled at a whim by some kind-spirited genie is a deep-seated desire in the human psyche, and we rubbed our magic lamp like crazy when we heard that NetEnt was about to release a dynamic grid follow-up to their legendary Wish Master slot. The Wish Master Megaways is not all that we wished for perhaps, but it will probably satisfy fans of the original and then some. No bonus round has been included this time either, which we just needed to get off of our chest before moving on.
In fact, this Megaways follow-up stays true to the original in most regards, but the expanding wild modifier has been dropped. You get 4 different modifiers from the Wish Master, however, and up to 3 can be active at the same time. They remain active for only 5 spins in this bigger and bolder version, however, which is half of what you get in the first game. The27,018x potentialis significantly higher though, as expected, and this was overall a great reunion that could’ve been even better if NetEnt had poured a bit more of their heart and soul into it.
Winning symbols are removed from the grid via theAvalanche mechanic, and the gaps are then filled by new and/or existing symbols dropping down from above. This gives you indefinite extra wins per round, as the feature goes on until you land a non-winning cascade. You can land wild symbols to help you out in that regard, as wilds step in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins.
You need theLamp Scatter symbolanywhere in view to trigger theWish Master feature, and the Wish Master Genie will then come into play.1 of 4 different modifiersare awarded as an icon you can see above the grid, and it’s active for the next5 spins(as opposed to 10 in the original game).
If you land another wish master scatter within those 5 spins, you get an additional active modifier as the spin tally resets to 5 again. Up to3 modifierscan be active at the same time, and you get them all for 5 spins after the tally resets. Below is an overview of what you can expect:
You cannot activate 2 of the same modifiers at the same time, and the expanding wild modifier from the original game is not included in this Megaways version. If you land the wish master scatter when you have 3 wish master modifiers active, you retrigger the feature that was triggered in the first place with a new wish master feature.
The original Wish Master is an “oldie, but goodie” from NetEnt, and we had our hopes up as soon as we heard about this Megaways follow-up. It did not disappoint in the visual department at least, but we had our fingers crossed for some kind of bonus round this time. Our wish was not granted as you probably understand from the above, and the Wish Master Modifiers haven’t really changed much from the original game either. This can be seen as both good or bad, depending, but we cannot help but feel that NetEnt could’ve poured a bit more effort into this release.
The bigger and bolder dynamic grid helps, of course, and the same can be said about the Avalanche sequences. However, these are standard Megaways elements most players have seen countless times before. The Wish Master feature is still highly entertaining though, and not least when you get 2 or 3 modifiers going at the same time. The27,018x potentialis in a totally different league than the 2014 version, of course, and The Wish Master Megaways adds up to a solid installment that could’ve been spectacular with a bit more effort.
